Summary: When vampires become more common, you can bet there will be an equal amount of hunters ready to drive them back to their graves. But this team of vamp killers might have met their match, as they are confronted by the very first, and it isn't ol' Vlad either.

History: The first vampire was the result of a botched exorcism. To elaborate, former priest Jan Valek was accused of housing demons, so when they tried to expel said demons with an ancient relic known as the Black Cross of Berziers, the whole thing backfired, and Valek became a sort of half demon, or vampire. Now, he leads an army of those like him with the Black Cross in his possession. For if he can perform a ritual with it, he will grant vampires the ability to walk in the daylight and live forever.

Notable Kills: Nothing special

Final Fate: Valek's ritual is botched, and he gets the Black Cross impaled into his chest. Soon, the remaining vampire hunters are back in business, their job now significantly easier.

Powers/Abilities: Shares a telepathic link with those he converts, has superhuman strength, and is immune to almost all damages.

Weakness: Sunlight and objects through the heart.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-Valek crosses out pretty much everything on the dark vampire checklist, right down to having more toned down powers in favor of a more chilling performance. Then again, seeing him leap all over the place can be a bit silly.

Trivia: -According to John Carpenter, he veered away from the more gothic approach to vampires in favor of a more "savage" look on them. Also, he saw this as less a horror movie and more a western.

-Shockingly, this was the only John Carpenter film of the 90s that made a decent financial gain.
